HSBC 匯豐控股

Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) is a bank based in HK and UK.  It is one of the bank in HK with the rights to issue currencies, and one with the largest customer base in HK.  It has expanded dramatically in the past but now mainly focused in HK, China and SE Asia.

HSBC has a very large volume in the HK stock market.  In the past, it used to be one of the tools as saving.  It used to issue dividends 4 times a year.  However, since the Financial Tsunami, its market price has dropped dramatically, and since then never back to its original price.  The lowest stock price in the past 20 years had been down to $2x.

Starting Feb 2023, the business status of HSBC seems to be much different after selling off a lot of un-focused businesses.  In an announcement by the CEO in early 2023, it was mentioned that HSBC wish to re-continue dividend distribution as it was in the past.  It shows a positive signal for long-term investment, and worth attention.
